Alice Troughton, director of TDD, has this to say in DWM no. 395 (p.7): "Freema is simply a delight - a positive, dedicated, hugely watchable and lovely actor."

We also learn from the magazine that Martha will be kidnapped at the beginning of the ep and that she and the Doctor will have some touching, emotional moments (I assume towards the end).

Awesome, I love the emotional moments! I want to see if they can top the LOTTL ending on the emotion scale. I don't think they will simply because of the difference of contexts and stuff but at least it's something to be remembered!

Me too! I don't know what it is -- but I love the chemistry between the Doctor and Martha. In the Sontaran Strategem, I enjoyed their verbal exchanges far more than the action scenes. You can sense the love and admiration between them. It may not be romantic love, but there's love. The Doctor is such a complex character. Desperately lonely on one hand and yet emotionally distant on the other. Being an immortal will do that to you. But he still reaches out at times...Tennant is far better at this than any other actor in the role. Martha is one of the best companions ever. She brings out qualities in the Doctor seldom explored before...I can hardly wait. :D

Definitely. There's some deep DOCTOR LOVE hahaha. David and Freema are portray perfectly the bond that is between the Doctor and Martha; a bond that isn't romantic but has been gained after going through so much together and overcoming personal hurdles to get to where they are now. The Doctor showed Martha so much and Martha helped the Doctor come to some pretty important realisations and the connection that exists between the two characters is there now whenever they exchange dialogue.

I think Martha is now so much more assured of herself that she knows when to put the Doctor in his place and isn't afraid to do so; which also makes the Doctor sort of stand back and notice how she's grown up and matured. He doesn't have to worry about her romantic inclinations anymore and Martha has shown him that he doesn't dominate over her like he used to. I love it!
