Naoko Mori confirmed in a recent interview that the Dr Sato she played in DW and Tosh in TW are one and the same character. Torchwood sent her in undercover to gather intelligence about the space pig.
"Yes, I can now officially clarify that ... Yes. I cleared it with [Doctor Who and Torchwood executive producer Russell T. Davies] and he said yes. Actually, that gets referred to a lot later on in the second season of Torchwood as well. It was, if you like, sort of a nifty infiltration on Torchwood's part."

I didnt notice Martha and Tosh not getting on that well, I just thought we diddnt see them talking but now you remind me in saying that Martha was called a UNIT girl, that totally makes sense them not getting on. Do you think Martha knew about Tosh being held without trial? Proberly not

I meant like revenge against Time Lords in general on some level for screwing her up so much; she was as David said in the commentary "Crazy as a tree of snakes" by the end, so that could mean something. I don't know just theorising!

I doubt very much that Martha knew about Tosh's history. However, the total lack of interaction between the two is now clearly explained: Tosh will not want to have anything to do with UNIT whatsoever (other than what she is required to do by her job).

Once the Dr Who/Torchwood Cult kicked in switched on people started asking probing questions - hence Russell T. Davies clever response quoted above. Its interesting that Tosh and the Dr.Sato appearances are conveniently linked - but what about Martha and her cousin turned Cyberman (or person??). Why has The Doctor never said to Martha "hmm you look familar" or "sorry I couldn't stop what happened to your cousin" ..etc.. after all he is probably ths most observant peron in the galaxy .. AND everyone forgets Gareth David-Lloyds 'unlinked' appearances in dr Who and Torchwood......

people going on about tosh, when she met the space pig she was working with torchwood because when her and owen were dying she said something about all the times she filled in for him and they said about when she had to pretend to be a doctor when she knew nothing and then they both went 'SPACE PIG'

In "Made of Steel", the Doctor remembers Adeola, but he doesn't tell Martha that he saw her at Canary Wharf because he couldn't come to terms with the fact he killed (although he needed to) her and all the other converted Torchwood workers. So he tells Martha that there were a lot of people there and he didn't see her, which Martha seems to accept.
And yeah with Owen and Tosh; she clearly points out the time she had to cover for Owen and pretend to be a medic because Owen was hungover and unreachable; at which point they both say Space Pig.
But when we first saw Toshiko in aliens of london (2005) which was set in 2006 she wondered what the space pig was doing on the slitheen ship. So she could have been under cover but she was working for UNIT.
