Martha Jones Details Emerge From First Book

In just a few days (1 March) the first Doctor Who book featuring Martha Jones will be available for sale in the UK, “Made of Steel” by Terrance Dicks.

Of course this means a few lucky people have gotten ahold of it early! Since the book timeline is apparently set sometime after the sixth television episode of series three (“The Lazarus Experiment”) there are some interesting details about Freema’s character that come out.

Please note that the following most definitely includes spoilers!

(also note that “facts” from books are not necessarily considered “canon” in the Doctor Who universe…)
• Martha had a cousin who was apparently Adeola (old news)

• Martha goes on her first TARDIS trip after being persuaded by the Doctor for “just one short trip” (turns into many of course!)

• Martha’s Royal Hope Hospital is transported instantly to the moon
(not “flown” as rumoured previously)

• Martha has medical student friends named Rachel and Fanshawe

• Martha’s parents are divorced (at least since the year 2000)

• Martha makes fun of the Doctor’s lack of navigational skills with the TARDIS

• Martha gets somewhat annoyed with the Doctor after he insists the Cybermen can’t be back because opening the Void again is impossible - when they show up again anyway

That’s true but it’s probably because of the effects costs. You’re forgetting we saw them being pulled up just not flying through in torchwood tower.

I think the Doctor is losing it. Anything can happen. The void can be opened again because isn’t there that Void Opening machine at the Torchwood HUB? Or is it only one time use?

My apologies as Jack is correct and I needed to rephrase that last point. Martha is annoyed with the Doctor that he said something was impossible and yet it happened, the Void was just part of the “impossible” (oh those Doctor Who “But that’s Impossible!” moments ) )

Simon, this doesn’t mean Rose will come back because she is not in the void, she is in the parrallel universe.
