“It is absolute rubbish that Freema Agyeman has been axed or sacked from Doctor Who. However we do not comment on future storylines.”
On a day where Freema should be celebrated in the press for her lovely first appearance on Friday Night With Jonathan Ross, it instead has been horribly ruined by the cruelty of a tabloid desperate for attention by any means. While we are not an official voice for Freema, we would like to at least express our outrage against The Sun’s nonsense.
Having failed to cash in on their attempts to damage her established co-star, David Tennant, by trying to ignite and ride on rumours of his impending departure from Doctor Who, “The Sun” has turned their eye to a far easier target, an actress who has just barely gotten her momentum going in mainstream media and therefore can less easily defend herself.
Freema had been their darling until recently and they could not print enough nice things to say about her. But she seems to have outlived her usefulness to them since every other paper was also praising her and their voice was being drowned out. So “The Sun” has changed their tactics, now forming their words into a knife and trying to plunge it into her career for no apparent reason but for their own depraved gossip and readership numbers.
Rest assured, there is an ever growing list of logical reasons why what they say is hopelessly incorrect and full of falsehoods, including a recent statement* by Russell T. Davies that he hasn’t even written the Christmas Special yet, let alone any of series four. But The Sun made one glaring mistake in their attempt to trash Freema: there is no-one in the BBC that high in authority who would ever talk to them on that kind of topic. It just wouldn’t happen. Such a person would lose their lucrative job in a heartbeat, it wouldn’t be worth risking discovery.
To attempt to poison Freema’s fanbase by eroding the will to commit to her character emotionally is nothing short of a crime in our book. It’s bad behaviour expected from a bully, not from any entity claiming to be “press”.
So in conclusion, all we can do is ask you to boycott The Sun. There is simply no reason to read it anyway and if this is going to be their new trend why do you need such negativity in your day? Entire towns have successfully boycotted The Sun, we dare say a fandom can do so as well. We are compiling a list of their associated products and companies to boycott, as well as previous claims by them that were complete fabrications so that you may more readily defend yourself against their rubbish and will publish it as soon as reasonably possible. Ask your friends and family to join this action.
We thank you for your loyalty to Freema.
Update: The BBC have now given us a short statement Saturday morning strongly denying The Sun’s claim, which has been placed at the top of this page. In addition at the end of the day we received further confirmation from other solid sources (which unfortunately we cannot name) who assure us that The Sun’s article is untrue.
* Russell T. Davies told Ariel in an interview at the end of April:
“Don’t be stupid, I haven’t even written the script yet ”
The Daily Star reports on 2 June: Freema’s agent confirms she is in series 4
Can someone please remove *** *** cookie on the David-Tennant.com as it is currently making me
As for the article it reminds somewhat of an article that the ***** **** printed a couple of years ago on Christopher Eccleston. To me that almost was liable for slurring on an incredible actor who after all without him Doctor Who in the 21st Century would have died a slow and painful death!
I have actually met Christopher three times in the last three years and I can tell you he is the complete opposite of what this bum fodder wrote and other subsequent ones wrote about him when he was contracted to do ONE season of Doctor Who, he is an absolute gentleman. Christopher is soon to be seen in the adaption of Susan Cooper’s novel “The Dark Is Rising” (12th October) and five episodes of the hit series “Heroes” coming to BBC 2.
It was them and the **** ** *** ***** who leak episodes and this mole whoever it is must be exterminated - but hey that would be TOO good a thing wouldn’t it?
Freema please ignore this and we will in turn support you.

In football press, they are cruel and often correct in their sometimes ’sick’ guesses. I hope they are wrong.Freema has excellent qualities and the proof is there on the screen. The on-screen chemistry is for all the see!
Wake up British Tabloids and find something sensible, meaningful and factual to report on, like the starving of Bangladesh or the misplaced of the Sudan.
Fortunately I cannot buy the ‘Sun’ here in Atlantic Canada, if I did (and I wouldn’t) ‘Burn with me’ !!
Ah, tah for this.
Someone had actually commented on Paul Cornell’s blog about the Sun article in question. I know we shouldn’t trust tabloids, so I was just *waiting* for this to follow — thank you for taking the time to make this statement.
I’ve toddled over to Paul’s blog and left a note with a link to this editorial to disprove the rumormills.

Never bought the Sun, never will.
Hopefully Freema will be around for another series. Series 3 is definately my favourite so far, so as people have already said, the BBC would be mad to lose her.
I was very upset when I read this yesterday!
I must admit that along with many others, I was rather worried about what it meant for the series by the departure of Rose. However, I adore Martha and I feel the BBC would bemad to lose her. She totally matches and compliments David well. Why would you want to ruin that?
Well done Freema and keep up the fantastic work

From the Sun story “But show chiefs think her performance is not as strong as in her earlier episodes.”
Well I think her performance in Human Nature exposes the inaccuracy of that particular comment.
I can’t believe that some people still buy this.
Freema is fantastic, and I have written the Sun a critical letter about this and encourage everyone to do the same.
Like all Dr who fans, I welcome the statement from the BBC about The Sun claiming that Freema Agyeman would be axed in season three. Freema has been AMAZING in Dr Who and I hope she stays with the show for a long time. The character of Martha is up there with all the classic companions and I would like to thank her for her great work and I hope the mean spirited tabloids do not spoil her enjoyment of her well deserves sucess
Ever noticed how everything the tabloids report gets denied by the BBC, then turns out to be true? Eccleston’s leaving, Billie’s leaving…. so I’m still concerned that Tennant may leave midway through season 4! Oh and that the awful rumour about Freema may turn out to be true. There’s something about “however we do not comment on future storylines” which just drips of “well, it’s true and it ain’t….”.
