Well, if Martha is engaged, then has it been a long time since she left the Doctor? A couple of years or something?
she could be engaged to someone from Torchwood as she is in Torchwood series 2 next year.
To answer Lukerz question - Tom Milligan is still alive. In the last episode when they reversed everything that the Master had done Martha rang up the hospital and got put through to him but she hung up the phone before talking to him.

I like the engagement/marriage or whatever it is because it raises the UST stakes. Oh, and because I’d actually like Martha to be happy.
OMG that ring in the doctor who series3 it was on her middle left finger and rose had one too except it was only a gold band.
