Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How do you say Freema’s last name?
Think of the word “agitate” (like “Martha will challenge and agitate the Doctor”) So it’s “agi - man”. You can listen to Freema pronounce it herself in several of the audio and video clips on the site. Note that even BBC announcers have gotten it wrong at times so ignore their unfortunate mistake.

Can you forward something to Freema?
Sorry we cannot accept anything for Freema ourselves.
Please use the address provided on the “How to write Freema” page.

What are the benefits of registering?
While registering to leave comments is completely optional here, if you do register you won’t have to enter your information every time or type in that “captcha” code when you wish to comment. Members can also edit their comments for an hour or so after they post. Last but not least, members can also “subscribe” to articles where if there is a new comment, you will be notified by email. We don’t use your email address for anything else and it never leaves this website (email addresses are not visible to anyone but our top-level administrators)

How can I get a picture/avatar next to my comments?
We encourage everyone to give the “gravatars” a try, they can be alot of fun. All you have to do is register your email address at http://gravatars.com and when you leave a comment, be sure to enter that same email address in the appropriate comment field. Then your avatar will show up automatically, even if you are not registered on the website! (this also will work automatically on other websites that support “Gravatars” )

Members that are registered here have one additional avatar option, they can specify a graphic directly from a URL (web address) without registering on the gravatars.com website.

On rare occasion the gravatars will not show up right away or sometimes they will disappear. These are technical glitches that we fix as soon as we can when we notice them. They will usually syncronise within a half hour or so.

Why was my comment “moderated” or disappeared?
Our website may automatically “flag” certain comments if it thinks something may be wrong with it (if it looks like spam, too many links or looks “weird” ) If there’s nothing wrong, one of the editors will usually notice it and approve it withing a few hours (usually less than an hour)

Please note that we do reserve the right to remove any message for any reason that we deem it inappropriate. If a message is insulting to others, either on the website or anyone in general, it will likely be removed. While this website is specifically about Freema we do tolerate discussions in general about any show she may be in, such as Doctor Who.

I cannot see any of the videos?!
You need Flash version 8 or 9 to see the video. You can download and install Adobe Macromedia Flash Player version 9:
for internet explorer under Windows
for firefox or opera under Windows
for mac, all other browsers, etc.

What are those two letters “A A” in the upper corner?
That lets you make the text bigger or smaller on this site. You can also click the arrow in that corner to move the sidebar to the left or right side if you are more comfortable the other way. You need cookies enabled if you want the website to remember your preferences on your computer.

The country flag next to my comment is wrong?
This is a rare technical problem that we can usually fix if you email us at one of the addresses above and tell us what it should be.

Can I promote my own website in the comments?
We do not allow blatant links to websites for promotion. You are welcome to enter your website address in the proper field when you post a comment and readers can find it linked to your nickname. If your site has another article with additional information about article we post, that type of link is fine. We reserve the right to remove any comment with links we feel are unsuitable or inappropriate.

Can I take the photos from here and use them on another website?
Many of our photos are displayed with special permission from the people who own them. Therefore we ask that you please do not copy them directly and especially not to “hotlink” them. Many times the source for the photo is obvious and you can obtain a copy directly.

Why do you stamp your website name on every photo?
Most of the images on this website have the “Freema Agyeman.com” logo on there to help reduce “hotlinking”. Hotlinking is when someone directly links an image from one website onto another, which makes all the visitors on the other site load the image. The problem with doing that is we have to pay the bill for the bandwidth used to show the image elsewhere and that adds up very quickly!

Hotlinking” is considered bad-behavior on the internet, some people do it out of ignorance to the damage it causes. While there are technical solutions to limit hotlinking, all of them cause problems for certain kinds of visitors and we’d rather avoid that. If we discover an image is being hotlinked we take steps to block that, manually, as soon as possible.

Is there any way I can read the website on a mobile/cellphone?
We are testing an experimental service for mobile/cellphone visitors at:
wap.freemaagyeman.com
Just enter that into your device’s browser and it should show the latest news articles and comments in plain text without graphics. Note that it still has some issues we are working to improve. Email us if you have suggestions or feedback on the service. Also keep in mind your service provider will charge you any typical internet access fees, but they are not from us as the website is free.
